Simon Andrews leads Fraunhofer UK Research Ltd, the headquarters for UK Fraunhofer Centres. He also supports the first of these, Fraunhofer Centre for Applied Photonics, based at the University of Strathclyde, in Glasgow. (He was Interim Director of SU2P at its inception and remains a keen supporter)
His love of excellent science, international collaboration and practical innovation particularly in photonics and life sciences have driven his efforts on both sides, and in the middle of, the technical and commercial ‘valley of death’.
Fraunhofer CAP is engaged with several Scottish universities, with key collaborations with Strathclyde, and is helping accelerate technology towards market in a wide range of sectors and is currently developing systems relevant to all the SU2P themes.
